Just outside of Nairobi on the fertile slopes of the Aberdare mountain range, coffee pervades. The high altitude lends to slow maturation of coffee cherries that bring us exquisite coffees like this. This selection from Malaki Estate is a fun and balanced approach to the electric acidity normally seen in Kenyan coffe. In the cup, a rich body and pleasant malic acidity carry vibrant notes of juicy melon, white peach, and ripe mango, balanced by a deep grape sweetness and a soft, nutty finish reminiscent of sweet almond paste.

Founded in 1959 by Edward Marigi, the estate is now run by his wife, Florence Mukuhi Marigi, and their daughter, Jessica. Together they carry on the family’s legacy, cultivating classic Kenyan coffee varieties with meticulous care. It’s a lovely, effortless drinker that shows off everything that makes high-elevation Kenyan coffee so special.
